Description

Ferrosilicon is made of quartzite and coke as raw materials, heated and smelted in an electric furnace through a professional process. The appearance of ferrosilicon is silver gray with metallic luster, and can be processed into natural blocks, standard blocks, granules and powders as required. Due to the high silicon content, ferrosilicon is often used in the deoxidation process of steelmaking, such as some low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, electrical silicon steel, etc.

APPLICATION

(1) Ferrosilicon is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation.

(2) Ferrosilicon is used as an inoculant and a nodularizing agent in the cast iron industry. Ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (helps to precipitate graphite) and nodularizer in the production of ductile iron.

(3) Ferrosilicon is used as a reducing agent in the production of iron alloys. Not only the chemical affinity of silicon and oxygen is high, but the carbon content of high silicon ferrosilicon is also very low. Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or silicon alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent for the production of low-carbon iron alloys in the ferroalloy industry.
